Michael Bidwell, the owner of the Arizona Cardinals, has tested positive for the coronavirus and is in the hospital at the recommendation of his doctor.
The team said Bidwell went to the doctor after developing symptoms, where he tested positive and told to go to the hospital. Since then, his condition has improved and he is expected to be released this weekend.
The team says they believe Bidwell caught the virus while he traveling and spending time on the East Coast for several weeks.
He has been working remotely since March and, according to the team, has not come in contact with any coaches or players.
The Arizona Cardinals are currently trying their best to prepare for a 2020 season that is still planned for, but will feature many changes to the way games are played. It certainly doesn’t help that Arizona is one of the worst places in the country – and the world – in terms of rising cases. Bidwell has donated $1 million to the AZ Coronavirus Relief Fund in March, and has tried to help the the relief efforts in other ways as well.
