Ray Fisher: Director Volunteers to Direct “Cyborg” Film

101 0

Just a few days after Ray Fisher called out Joss Whedon for the director’s behavior on the set of Justice League, Ray Fisher just may be looking at getting a solo film for his part-robot character, Cyborg.

Earlier this week, Fisher took to Twitter to accuse Whedon of “gross” and “abusive” behavior towards the actors and crew on the set of the reshoots, and even leveled that certain figures at DC were letting him get away with it.

With these accusations coming out, many fans have taken to the internet to ask for Cyborg to get the solo film he was originally promised, and J.D. Dillard has thrown his hat into the ring to helm it.

Mattew A. Cherry, the director behind the Oscar-winning short, Hair Love, has also commented on Dillard being the one to bring Cyborg’s solo film to life, so now it feels like something just may be happening here.

As many of us know, the original vision for Justice League was left behind when Zack Snyder left the film for personal reasons Whedon came on to replace Snyder, and he conducted a ton of reshoots to change the tone and story of the film. The movie was meant to introduce the characters of Cyborg, Aquaman (Jason Momoa), and The Flash (Ezra Miller). Those characters were then going to get their own solo films. Aquaman got his (incredibly successful) solo outing, and Miller is still set to get his if it can ever stay on track, but Fisher has been waiting for Cyborg’s moment.

With DC’s FanDome event coming on August 22nd, we could see this announcement being made. And with HBO Max finally giving us Zack Snyder’s Justice League next year, maybe we are starting to see DC going back to what Snyder originally intended.

We just don’t know what is going to happen, if anything. The new version of Justice League may just be a one-time thing and they’ll leave the Snyderverse behind, or maybe we will finally see what was meant to be. There are even rumors going around of Ben Affleck’s return to the role of Batman, so things could be getting crazy soon enough.
