Fans of The Clone Wars who are searching for something to fill that void left by the series’ end have a newly-announced spin-off series coming to Disney+ called Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
As fans can assume, the series will focus on the titular team that was the focus of the opening storyline of Clone Wars Season 7. The Bad Batch are a group of elite clonetroopers who are more genetically unique than other troopers, which allows them to carry out more dangerous and challenging missions. The series will take place right after the end of Clone Wars, seeing the team working as mercenaries.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch will premiere on Disney+ in 2021.
“Giving new and existing fans the final chapter of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ has been our honor at Disney+, and we are overjoyed by the global response to this landmark series,” said Agnes Chu, Disney+ SVP of Content, “While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning. We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”
The series will be helmed by many franchise veterans, such as executive producers, Dave Filoni, Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, and Jennifer Corbett, co-executive producer, Carrie Beck, and producer, Josh Rimes. Rau will also serve as supervising director and Corbett will be head writer on the series.
There haven’t been any details given about the voice actors in the series, but it’s safe to assume that Dee Bradley Baker will reprise his role as every trooper in the team: Hunter, Crosshair, Tech, Wrecker and Echo. The timeline of the series can also indicate what characters could appear, including Ahsoka Tano, Captain Rex or a young Kanan Jarrus.
