The Series X and PS5 are starting to really turn up the heat in terms of planned games and teases. Recently we saw some awesome games teased for the Series X at a reveal party held by Microsoft.
So, we thought it’d be a fun idea to give you our picks for the 10 BEST games on both platforms to prepare with. Games that pushed the boundaries of technical limitations, graphical prowess and ingenuity ahead of their time!

Gears of War 5
Now, we’ll be one of the first people to admit, we weren’t really that excited for this game when it was first revealed. We enjoyed the previous games due to the machismo and intense gunplay of the campaign.
That being said, Gears 5 proved to be a very welcome addition to the revered shooter franchise. With emotional storytelling absent from previous entries and graphics that have to be seen to be believed. Gears 5 is a great showcase of what Third Person Shooters can be!
God of War – 2018 Reboot
Yes, we mentioned this game more than once in Top 10 Lists. But hey, when you make a game that is this freaking good, it’s kinda hard to not add it in every gaming list ever.
Kratos and his son are a phenomenal piece of storytelling. Combined with incredibly jaw dropping graphics, smooth gameplay changes and stellar art direction.
Forza Horizons 4
This is one of those game franchises that just keeps getting better with each iteration, and bigger as well.
Featuring one of the biggest open world maps ever made and an insane attention to detail. Seriously, you can actually see individual scratches and writing on screws within the car body. So you’d best believe that Forza will be one of Next Gen’s Biggest projects!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
If you want one of the best examples of what graphical prowess can only hope to improve on, look no further. With physics being applied to the tiniest blades of grass and ray lighting that would make JJ Abrams faint.
Witcher 3 is not only one of the best RPG’s of all time, but also one of the best games of all time.
Crysis 3
Recently we actually found out that Crysis is receiving a remaster either later this year or later in 2021. And if it looks even half as good as Crysis 3 does, then it’ll blow your mind.
These games are infamous for pushing high end custom PC’s to their breaking points. So don’t expect to see the best version of Crysis 3 on your console. Nonetheless, with some stellar action direction, jaw dropping graphics and incredible multiplayer, Crysis 3 is one of the best FPS games!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
Usually, CoD is one of those annual releases that never really drums up that much hype anymore. Because we’re just used to seeing the same thing over and over again, year after year. Modern Warfare finally changed that.
Bringing the series back to it’s favorite moments, a new graphics engine and a new story. Modern Warfare looks, feels and runs incredibly smooth. The graphics are second to only a select few and we look forward to what it does later on!
Killzone Shadow Fall
Despite releasing to very middling sales and mediocre reviews, Shadow Fall still boasts the best PS4 graphics, period.
With unmatched attention to detail, particle effects and lighting. Shadow Fall may not have much in the way of gameplay and story, but those graphics are something else man.
Until Dawn
We might catch some flak for this entry but we’ll stand by it. This game shows just how far motion capture has come.
Featuring the murder mystery story that is reminiscent of movies like Friday the 13th, Until Dawn is a bloody good time. Plenty of scares, thrills and cheese, you’ll have a blast.
Again, best motion capture in gaming outside of Uncharted 4.
Warframe
With a massive, ever expanding world, dozens of character to unlock and thousands of weapons to earn. Warframe is one of the biggest MMO properties in gaming for a lot of reasons.
Showcasing that you don’t have to sacrifice a deep story, graphics or player counts to achieve something big. This game not only showcases just how adaptable the studio is, but what they do with aging technology.
Red Dead Redemption II
One of the most recent entries on this list is also the best current showcase for what next gen will be capable of.
RDRII is so detailed, hyper realized and beautiful it comes scarily close to reality in some places. Add in the fact that there is hundreds of hours of stuff to complete and a massive open world. You’ll find yourself unable to move on from this game for a long time.
That’s our list guys! What games on here have you played and what games are you most looking forward to for next gen? Let us know in the comments below and follow us on social media for more updates and lists like this one!
