Business Insider reports that Office Depot has announced they will be closing 50 stores in 2019. The office supply retailing company is shuttering stores under both its namesake and OfficeMax Banners.
A spokeswoman of Office Depot, Shera Bishop said that at least nine of the closing stores will shut down permanently on 18th May.
She added that the closing was planned three years ago in 2016 to close approximately 300 stores.
Bishop stated that Office Depot will continue to optimize its retail footprint as a part of a three-year strategic plan announced in 2016.
They will continue to provide their services to customers at neighboring Office Depot and OfficeMax stores as well as online at officedepot.com.
At least 36 of the stores in 20 states have started massive liquidation themselves.
The South Florida Business Journal initially revealed the 50 store terminations.
