Co-Founder of Facebook Now Wants Facebook to be Broken Up.

In an op-ed for ‘The New York Times,’Facebook Co-Founder Chris Hughes says regulations are needed for U.S. tech companies.

Hughes, who left the company a decade ago, helped originally start it with CEO Mark Zuckerberg 15 years ago from his Havard dorm.

Hughes says Facebook has limited competition now and requires innovation.

In the op-ed, he writes that Zuckerberg has surrounded himself with those who don’t challenge him enough.

Hughes even writes that Facebook should give up control of Instagram due to its “monopoly-like” status.

He goes on to regret not noticing the effect Facebook’s news fed could have.

Earlier this year, in his own op-ed, Zuckerberg indicated that regulations might be required.

However, Hughes says those perspectives are intended for Facebook to keep away from possible antitrust cases later on.
