Jeff Bezos Talks about What Makes a Good Leader
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos was asked at the MARS conference in Las Vegas about an odd company principle he follows that the leaders “are right a lot”.
Bezos said that he likes people who are right a lot. He further explained that people who are right a lot, listen a lot and they also change their mind a lot.
He further added that there is value in changing your mind as the world is so dynamic that if you don’t change your mind a lot, you’re just going to be wrong a lot.
According to Bezos people who are right a lot, work very hard to discipline themselves, they want to disconfirm their foundational biases, which is very unnatural for human beings.
Jeff Bezos also accepted that simply proclaiming that good leaders are right a lot is not super helpful but it’s an obvious desire. He added that to actually be consistently correct, requires some other important qualities.
