Lyft Files Patent To Create A ‘Drivers Jukebox’ System

Transportation network company, Lyft on Tuesday filed a patent to set up a “Driver Jukebox” system in the cab which will be connected with the driver’s phone and car speakers.

Riders will get benefit with the system as they can play the music of their choice in the cab using the driver’s phone and speakers.

The application of patent is an extension of a patent the company applied in 2015. Though, there were no add-ons of music features in the Lyft app after 2015.

Lyft opponent Uber has the same music feature from last three years, i.e., from 2016. Per the Uber website, the Uber music feature connects with Spotify or Pandora.

And keeping in mind that Lyft hasn’t yet propelled any comparable element for drivers or riders, it has been urging drivers to check rider’s music preferences in the application since at least 2015 through its #betterrides campaign.
