The world has been getting ready for the first Super Nintendo World to open in Universal Studios Japan ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. There still isn’t a ton of information about the theme park, but a Nintendo press release informs that the park will have “… incredibly fun rides, shops, a restaurant, and interactive gameplay…” This includes a real-life Mario Kart race, so get your blue shells ready.

Patrons will also be able to purchase a “Power-Up Band”, which gives them an additional level of interactivity while at the park. The bands will allow visitors to use their arms, legs, and bodies while exploring the park and allow fans to collect digital coins, participate in “Key Challenges”, and even battle others around the park via a smartphone app or Nintendo Switch. The bands are designed around Super Mario Bros. questions, which means you can look forward to wearable versions of Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Dasiy, and Toad!

Japan’s park is set to open up this year, and the West Coast park is set to open sometime between 2021 and 2022, with a park coming to Florida in 2023.
