Cate Blanchett In Talks to Play Lilith in Borderlands Movie

The Borderlands movie is gaining steam this week with the rumors of Cate Blanchett being in talks to play the siren, Lilith, in the game-turned-movie adaptation.

The film is being directed by Eli Roth, and being produced by Avi and Ari Arad. Craig Mazin, the Emmy-winning writer of Chernobyl, wrote the latest draft of the screenplay. The executive producers are Randy Pitchford, executive producer of the game franchise and founder of Gearbox Software, and Strauss Zelnick, chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive.

The first game in the series was released in 2009 by Gearbox, telling the story of a group of vault hunters on an alien planet called Pandora. Lilith is one of those hunters, and is only one of six women in the galaxy that are sirens, wielding superhuman powers. The game has seen sequels and spin-offs, with the latest one, Borderlands 3, was released in September.

The game is full of eccentric characters, witty dialogue, and lots of guns. How that transfers to the big screen is something we are intrigued to see.
