Despite some concerns for crews as coronavirus peters out, most companies are mandating a hiatus. However, apparently someone forgot to give the memo to Rowling and crew. Since Fantastic Beasts 3 is set to resume filming this week.
Several, and by several I mean just about all of them, movies and productions have been put on hiatus for COVID. Since that was the case, including a few in the UK, many expected that Fantastic Beasts 3 would do the same.
However, several of the cast members are working on other projects outside of the 3rd entry so maybe that’s why. Yet, this movie was delayed twice before because of those exact reasons so that doesn’t really track.
Honestly we don’t really know what to make of this. If you’re practicing proper safety techniques then it doesn’t really matter obviously, but since everyone else was calling it off that surprised me.
There’s not much else to this story for the time being. The Batman was recently delayed for two weeks, so maybe the situation will change fairly soon for Fantastic Beasts. Or perhaps they just simply are tired of delaying and want to actually film and make money for the crew.
Nonetheless, there may be something to learn from this. Perhaps the panic is overblown by just a little bit, or perhaps WB is simply sick of losing money over delays.
