As of now, there is no new date set for the movie, nor do we know if it will be released on VOD, a move which Trolls World Tour made and ended up making nearly $100 million in revenue.

There is also no word of how this decision could impact other July releases, such as Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, which is still scheduled for its July 17th release. There is also the Russel Crowe-led thriller, Unhinged, set for July 1st. With the uncertainty surrounding the industry right now, we aren’t sure when the studio could be looking at for a new release date.

The last three Purge films all released during the month of July, usually around July 4th, with the entire series grossing more than $456 million worldwide.

Not much is known about the plot of the film, but we do know it is being directed by Everardo Grout, based on a script written by franchise creator, James DeMonaco.
