The Last Of Us TV series is being directed by the best possible choice!

The Last of Us TV series is coming, and the decision for whom will be directing/writing is Craig Mazin. Known for his work on the universally acclaimed Miniseries ‘Chernobyl’, this is a match made in heaven.

Best part of all of this is that Neil Druckmann, the creator of the titular game, will be involved as a co-writer. Not only is this one of the only times a game developer is being given writing credit but actively working on the film project itself.

Not only is Druckmann on board but so is Naughty Dog president Evan Wells and Carolyn Strauss as Executive Producers. They both confirmed that this does indeed replace the original plans for a Last of Us movie adaptation.

News like this won’t be too surprising to the well informed or just fans. Mazin has been outspoken about his love of video games, praising Druckmann in particular.

“Without question the finest storyteller working in the video game medium, and The Last of Us is his magnum opus.Getting a chance to adapt this breathtaking work of art has been a dream of mine for years, and I’m so honored to do it in partnership with Neil.”

The excitement is not one way, everyone is on board

It also seems that Druckmann is equally as excited for this opportunity. He’s been vocal on Twitter as to his excitement on the project.

An official tease was all the confirmation that fans needed, and HBO delivered just that.

We’re not entirely sure if The Last of Us TV series will be focused on the same narrative as the games. Or if it will be an entirely original story simply set within the same universe as the games.

What do you think of the upcoming project for the Last of Us? Do you think the Druckmann/Mazin pair well with the idea? Or do you think that this is going to be yet another video game crash and burn? Let us know what you think in the comments!
