The NBA All-Star game gives a chance for the best players in the NBA to play a one-time basketball game for charity. The game was held in Chicago, and teams were named, Team LeBron and Team Giannis.
This year, many players gave tribute to Kobe Bryant, who passed away three weeks ago in a helicopter crash.
During the halftime performance, Jennifer Hudson gave a heartwarming performance in tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant. From the look of it, Hudson made the crowd come together to remember the legend of Kobe Bryant.
Hudson played her Oscar-winning rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “For All We Know (We May Meet Again)”. Also, she added to her impactful performance by wearing a purple dress to honor Kobe’s legacy at the Los Angeles Lakers.
Chicago rapper, Common, was also in attendance when he gave a small speech about the impact Kobe made. According to CNN, Common said, “He used his game to touch the world’s soul, a king named Kobe Bryant who wore purple and gold.” To see this speech, look at ESPN’s page for the video. During this video, the crowd starts to chant ‘Kobe’ as Common gives a small testimony on his life, including an 8-second moment of silence.
Team Giannis came out with the win over Team Lebron in a 157-155 final score.
