US Coronavirus Cases Reach 500 as Oregon Joins States in Emergency
The coronavirus continues to spread across the country as the number of confirmed cases reaches, and passes, 500, now standing at 511. There are now 21 deaths related to the virus.
Oregon is now joining the list of states declaring an emergency as the number of cases has doubled to 14. Washington state is the one that has been hit the hardest though, with at least 116 confirmed cases and 18 deaths.
New York has identified 106 cases and California has confirmed 102.
California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Utah and Washington have all declared emergencies, Pennsylvania has issued a disaster declaration, and the city of Austin, TX has issued a local disaster declaration.
This week saw the virus officially hit the U.S., with many states seeing cases popping up. This has caused a good amount of concern and worry to form, and also some criticism of the country’s government about their response to the outbreak.
