Either you know him from comics, Tom Hardy’s movie or just in passing, but Venom is an extremely popular character. And now, thanks to a video circulating around social media, he’s back in the trending spotlight for a bit!
First glance, that’s absolutely an alien symbiote. I mean come on, it straight up looks like something pulled straight from a SciFi movie. Except this time we don’t have Jake Gyllenhall or Tom Hardy to save us.
While we wait for a clear and scientific answer to this otherworldly quandary, it is a very 2020 thing to throw an alien on the planet. Next to COVID, movie cancellations, vacation suspensions etc. Venom would certainly fit right in with the rest of this wackiness.
With Venom 2 still slated for an October 2nd release date (provided nothing else delays it), who knows, this could be a marketing trick. Considering that most people are stuck at home for the next month however, this would not be a great trick to pull.
Nonetheless, if it is a Sony marketing trick, well done. Because it’s gotten the internet talking about this movie and hoping that we still see the sequel release on time.
Light at the end of the tunnel for some
With Trump still hoping for an Easter Time reopening for most businesses, movie theaters are expecting a mid June date. Meaning that most moviegoers would welcome the release of movies like Black Widow and Wonder Woman 1984.
Venom 2 would certainly be a welcome change of pace come October, especially if Director Andy Serkis gets to fully utilize his vision. Including his desire to make it an R-rated movie with more horror elements than the previous film.
