Avengers Endgame Got Snubbed! Or Did It?

Take a leisurely stroll through Reddit subs like r/marvelstudios and you’ll notice your usual amount of circle-jerking. However, if you look long enough you’ll come across a bevy of posts of upset Marvel fans that Endgame won absolutely zero Oscars.

Normally, this would be par for the course with the MCU movies. Their stronger focus on visual effects and safer stories usually guarantee a lower threshold of success.

However, comic book movies are starting to grow up a little bit. So what happened with Avengers Endgame, and did it really get snubbed?

No, that’s the short answer. Endgame did not deserve any Oscars wins, let’s just get that out of the way.

So What Happened… Conspiracy? BTS Issues?

Endgame started the Awards season out pretty rough. It nominated and submitted itself for more than 20 categories including: Best Director, Best Visual Effects, Best Editing, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor etc.

You might say to yourself; “well yeah, there’s so much to unpack in this movie, it makes sense to cover all of the bases”. Normally, you’d be correct. However, when your competition is movies like Ford V Ferrari, 1917 and Joker… Well you sort of shot yourself in the foot for focusing on bigger category entries.

Granted, Joker and 1917 did come out well after Endgame, by quite a few months. That being said, Disney and crew have the resources to see things behind the scenes. And knowing what their competition was, they should’ve known that this was not going to be a dream come true.

Marvel has a new title to boast of though, the highest grossing film of all time with zero Oscar wins. That’s gotta count for something right?

What did you think of the Oscars? Did Avengers deserve better treatment or were you insulted it was even considered? Be sure to leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
