PROGRESS: Coronavirus Vaccine Entering Testing

We do have some progress being made with the coronavirus situation as a vaccine has entered testing for human volunteers.

A government official says that the first volunteer will receive the first experimental dose.

The National Institutes of Health is funding the trial taking place at a Kaiser Permanente facility in Seattle. The testing will begin with 45 young, healthy volunteers with different doses of shots co-developed between the NIH and Moderna, Inc.

While this is promising news, it is important to note that officials say it will take 12-18 months to fully validate the vaccine as effective and safe to use. However, it is still an important step forward, and while a vaccine may be a ways away, hopefully this research can further help the development of treatment for the virus.
