Scientists Studied Impact Of Sugary Drinks On Health, And The News Isn’t Good

A long term study conducted with more than 100,000 healthy people, shows that drinking sugar, contained in 100% fruit juice, soda, sweetened coffee, and tea may increase the risk of cancer.

The research found a relationship between drinking more sugar and higher cancer rates.

The study suggested that despite the healthy lifestyle if you are consuming sugar, there are more chances of cancer to develop in your body compared to someone who opts for unsweetened beverages.

A lead study author Mathilde Touvier says, “The results regarding fruit juices may be surprising because fruit juices have a healthy image.” he added, “They contain some vitamins, a few dietary fibers, and no food additives, but they also contain lots of sugar.”

The result of the study showed that irrespective of a person’s age, family history, active life, exercising, smoking, and other factors involved, people who drink more sugar are at high-risk getting cancer.

The conclusion of the study doesn’t prove that sugary drinks cause cancer, but the association is “significant” as said by study authors.
