As part of the “May the Fourth” celebration today, Disney has announced that Taika Waitit, the director of Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit, is set to helm a new movie set in a galaxy far, far away.
Incoming news from a galaxy far, far away….

Other than the existence of the film itself, there are no details about it. We have no idea what the story, setting, characters, or title will be. We do know that Waititi will direct the film, as well as co-write it with Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who helped write 1917 and Edgar Wright’s upcoming Last Night in Soho.
We don’t know if it will be a standalone film, in the vein of Rogue One, or the start of a brand new trilogy, which the series is always a fan of.
Disney seems dedicated to bringing more projects to the Star Wars franchise, and while that may be upsetting for some fans, we can’t deny that there is a lot in that universe that is ripe for storytelling.
