The Truth Is Still Out There

We aren’t done with the world of The X-Files yet, as Fox is bringing us an animated, comedic spin-off.

Some Familiar Faces Behind It

As reported by TV Line, Fox is developing the show with the original’s creator, Chris Carter, serving as executive producer. Carter will not be working as the showrunner or writer for the series though. The show will reportedly be called The X-Files: Albuquerque and will be a “toon offshoot” of the original show.

The show will be in the same universe as the original series, but it will not feature David Duchovny as Mulder or Gillian Anderson as Scully. These characters were last seen in the revival seasons a few years ago. The series will, instead, focus on a group of misfit agents who investigate cases that are too “out there” for even Mulder and Scully to handle.

The pilot will be written by Paradise PD‘s Rocky Russo and Jeremy Sosenko, who will also serve as executive producers with Carter and original series’ writer, Gabe Rotter. Bento Box will be in charge of the animation for the show. The show has only received a script treatment from Fox as of now, and there has been no announcement of a cast of characters or who will be voicing them.

The Original Was a Classic

The original series centered on Mulder and Scully, who investigated the supernatural, paranormal, and all the cases the FBI deemed too weird. It ran for nine seasons, plus two more revival seasons, as well as two full-length feature films. As of now, there are no plans for anymore seasons or stories within that original series.

We are avid, passionate X-Files fans here and will take any kind of content that we can. We will deeply miss Mulder and Scully but are looking forward to what will hopefully be a fun take on the series’ mythos and style.
