Disney Delays Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and Mulan indefinitely
Delays and Cancellations
Bad news for the movie business as more delays swing around the ending corner of July. Earlier in 2020, back in mid March, Disney delayed the release of films like Mulan. As the first wave of COVID hit, but we weren’t sure about Star Wars or other projects.
Disney remained pretty much silent on the topic up until very recently. They did announce the creation and release of Star Wars: The High Republic, but movies got more or less ignored.
Now, in July of 2020, Disney is officially pushing the film back. To when, you might be asking. Well, that’s the thing; there is no definitive date, it’s on indefinite delay. See Disney didn’t really call it a postponement or anything, they used the word ‘cancelled’. They did release a statement on the Mulan cancellation.
“Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis. Today that means pausing our release plans for ‘Mulan’ as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world.”
Matter of fact, there’s a potential that the sequel trilogy may not even be considered canon anymore. With Disney considering a hard reset and ignoring that they happened altogether. Truth be told, we wouldn’t really mind if they did. There were upsides to the DisneyStar Wars films, but the core trilogy was just problematic and all over the place.
Does that mean that they should be reset and ignored? We’re not saying no, but we’re not saying yes either. That’s something we’d like to hear from you!
